SCL Seminar Series "EXOTIC FLAVORS: A Practical Guide to Writing for Ethnic Instruments" Welcomes Virtuoso Middle Eastern Musician OMAR FARUK TEKLIBEK
The Society of Composers and Lyricists announces the next installment in the Continuing Seminar Series EXOTIC FLAVORS: A PRACTICAL GUIDE TO WRITING FOR ETHNIC INSTRUMENTS.

Featuring virtuoso Middle Eastern musician OMAR FARUK TEKBILEK, this interactive seminar will provide in-depth discussion of Sufi, Folk, and Contemporary Middle Eastern Music with Faruk performing on Nay (bamboo flute), Zurna (double-reed oboe-like instrument), the Baglama (long-necked lute), and percussion.

Explore the rich colors and textures available in these extraordinary and unusual instruments. Learn how to incorporate non-traditional sounds into your scores more effectively by understanding the correct ranges, notation, and technique.
