This is an invitation to join the Society of Composers & Lyricists. If you write music or lyrics for film, television, or video games, you will want to be a part of this distinguished organization. Our members include hundreds of the most prominent composers and lyricists in the industry.

Current members who wish to renew: on the home page, login if you have not already done so (at the upper right under the heading "Member Directory"), then click "Renew Membership" .

The SCL is devoted to your professional needs and concerns. Besides fostering a sense of community among our members, we provide information on a variety of subjects, including the creative, financial, technical and contractual aspects of writing for film and television. The SCL is active in improving the workplace and working conditions through a continuing dialog with filmmakers and television producers and directors.

The SCORE

• Winner of the ASCAP Deems Taylor Award for outstanding print coverage of music. Published quarterly, "The SCORE" contains practical articles regarding professional, legal, and technical issues, plus member news.

Full Membership

• Film Composers: 1 motion picture credit (unreleased films count) or 4 "additional music by" credits or 20 minutes of cue sheet credit from any number of shows.
• Television Composers: 1 episode or TV movie credit on free or cable TV (pilots count) or 20 minutes of cue sheet credit from any number of shows.
• Songwriters/Lyricists: 1 source or featured song placed in a motion picture or television program.
• Game Composers: An aggregate of 30 minutes of original music composed for any number of released titles. Only games that contain recorded music will be considered for eligibility.
• Musical Theater Composers/Lyricists: At least 1 professional, fully-staged Actors Equity Association production at an Equity-based and approved regional theatre in the U.S., including productions off-Broadway and Broadway. Composer/lyricist must have received compensation and had a professional run in front of a paying audience.

Associate/Student Membership

If you do not have the credits to become a full member, but are engaged in writing music and/or lyrics for motion pictures, television, video games or musical theater, or you are a student of film composition, musical theater, video games, or songwriting, you may join the SCL as a non-voting Associate Member. As an Associate, you are entitled to all mailings, activities and discounts for activities available to full members.

SCL Special Friend Category

Agents, Managers, Music Executives and other industry professionals are invited to join as non-voting Special Friends and are entitled to all SCL mailings, activities and discounts available to full members.

SCL Full Member (voting member)

(For composers/lyricists/songwriters with the required credits for Full membership)

  VOTING PRIVILEGES INCLUDE:
• (1) voting in the SCL Board of Directors bi-annual election, and
• (2) applying to run for the SCL Board of Directors (after three years of Full voting membership).

SCL Sponsor/Special Friend Member (non-voting member)

(For Industry Professionals involved with the film/tv/game music industry including music executives, music supervisors, music editors, musicians, agents, attorneys, and managers) All the benefits of full MEMBER Level except Voting Privileges.

SCL Gold Member (voting member)

(For composers/lyricists/songwriters with the required credits for Full membership) All the benefits of full MEMBER Level PLUS

SCL Gold Sponsor/Special Friend Member (non-voting member)

(For Industry Professionals involved with film/tv/game music) All the benefits of full GOLD MEMBER Level except Voting Privileges.

SCL Platinum Member (voting member)

(For composers/lyricists/songwriters with the required credits for Full membership) All the benefits of full GOLD MEMBER Level PLUS

SCL Platinum Sponsor/Special Friend Member (non-voting member)

(For Industry Professionals involved with film/tv/game music) All the benefits of full PLATINUM MEMBER Level except Voting Privileges.

SCL Diamond Member (voting member)

(For composers/lyricists/songwriters with the required credits for Full membership) All the benefits of full PLATINUM MEMBER Level PLUS

SCL Diamond Sponsor/Special Friend Member (non-voting member)

(For Industry Professionals involved with film/tv/game music) All the benefits of full DIAMOND MEMBER Level except Voting Privileges.

SCL Associate / Student Member Level (non-voting)

(For the Student composer/lyricist/songwriter, and those without credits for Full membership, but whom are actively working towards their first film/tv/game music credits)
