Synopsis

When tasked with tracking down a missing woman from his own past, Private Investigator Mel Sampson finds himself navigating the dark corners of Southern California and the menagerie of eccentric personalities and lost souls who inhabit it. Filmed in a series of stunning unbroken takes and featuring a gut-wrenching, tour-de-force performance by John Hawkes, TOO LATE is presented only in 35mm.

The Society of Composers and Lyricists Seminar: Too Late - John Hawkes John Hawkes  

Oscar nominated actor and acclaimed musician John Hawkes (“Winter’s Bone,” ”The Sessions”) composes and performs “Down with Mary” for the Foe Killer Films independent drama, “Too Late.” The film, written and directed by Dennis Hauck, stars Hawkes, Crystal Reed, Vail Bloom, Robert Forster, and Sydney Tamiia Poitier.

Hawkes has also written and recorded several songs featured in films and television shows.  His song “Bread and Buttered” appears on the “Winter’s Bone” soundtrack.  With his former band, King Straggler, he performed at the Sundance Festival, SXSW Music Festival and numerous clubs across the U.S. Hawkes recently finished his residency at a Los Feliz night club where he performed material that he is currently working on for a new full length album.

In addition to being an accomplished musician, Hawkes is an award-winning actor who has crafted memorable performances across a wide range of styles and genres. He was last seen in Universal Pictures’ “Everest,” with Jake Gyllenhaal, Josh Brolin and Jason Clarke.  Hawkes received an Oscar nomination and Independent Spirit Award win for his supporting role in the critically lauded film “Winter’s Bone.” He won a Best Actor Spirit Award for his performance in “The Sessions” which also garnered him Golden Globe and Screen Actors Guild Award nominations.  Previously Hawkes starred in “Me and You and Everyone We Know,” a film that received the Special Jury Prize at the Sundance Film Festival, as well as the Camera d’Or Award at the Cannes Film Festival.  Important television credits include lead roles in the HBO series, “Deadwood,” and “Eastbound and Down.” His upcoming film projects include “Small Town Crime,” starring Academy-award® winner Octavia Spencer and Martin McDonagh’s “Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri.”
