PARKING: The theater offers validation for both the Cardiff and Watseka parking lots (see map below). Please allow extra time to make your way from the self parking area to the theater.

Validate your parking ticket prior to the start of your film to avoid any lines after the film ends. Note that the garages only take cash.

  • Check-in begins 30 minutes prior to the event. No entry after the screening begins.
  • Seating is very limited. If you are unable to attend, you must cancel your reservation by 10:00AM Wednesday. [HOW TO CANCEL]
  • Once capacity is met, you will be placed on a wait list and informed of availability on the day of the event.
  • This invitation is for current SCL members plus one guest who will stay for BOTH the screening and Q&A. Seating is first-come, first-served. 
  • Please allow extra time for traffic, security, and check-in.
  • Your guest must be with you at check-in, no saving seats.
  • Rated R = attendees must be seventeen (17) years or older.
  • Screenings are overbooked due to no-shows.


From master story teller, Guillermo del Toro, comes THE SHAPE OF WATER - an other-worldly fairy tale, set against the backdrop of Cold War era America circa 1962.  In the hidden high-security government laboratory where she works, lonely Elisa (Sally Hawkins) is trapped in a life of isolation.  Elisa’s life is changed forever when she and co-worker Zelda (Octavia Spencer) discover a secret classified experiment.  Rounding out the cast are Michael Shannon, Richard Jenkins, Doug Jones and Michael Stuhlbarg. Oscar-winning composer ALEXANDRE DESPLAT is one of the most coveted film composers in the world today. Desplat is noted for his collaborations with some of the world’s top filmmakers: Wes Anderson, George Clooney, Stephen Daldry, David Fincher, Stephen Frears, Tom Hooper, Ang Lee, Terrence Malick, Roman Polanski and Angelina Jolie garnering eight Academy Award nominations.

Desplat first captivated American ears with THE GIRL WITH THE PEARL EARRING and BIRTH. The Golden Globe and Oscar winner has since scored a range of incredible films, eight of which have been Oscar-nominated: THE QUEENTHE CURIOUS CASE OF BENJAMIN BUTTON, FANTASTIC MR. FOXTHE KING’S SPEECH, ARGO, PHILOMENA, THE IMITATION GAME and Wes Anderson’s THE GRAND BUDAPEST HOTEL which won the 2015 Oscar for Best Score.

Desplat’s recent work includes Angelina Jolie’s UNBROKEN, his second collaboration with Tom Hooper (THE KING’S SPEECH), THE DANISH GIRL, Illumination Entertainment’s recent box office smash hit, THE SECRET LIFE OF PETS, FLORENCE FOSTER JENKINS starring Meryl Streep, and Touchstone’s THE LIGHT BETWEEN OCEANS starring Michael Fassbender and Alicia Vikander. Coming up next for Desplat is George Clooney’s comedy crime feature, SUBURBICON.

Born to a Greek mother and French father, Desplat grew up in France with a budding love for Hollywood film music, and broke into the French film industry in the 1980s. With a penchant for lyricism, elegant orchestrations, and precise dramatization, Desplat has quickly joined the pantheon of all-time greats.
