Event: SCL Seminar EXOTIC FLAVORS: A PRACTICAL GUIDE TO WRITING FOR ETHNIC INSTRUMENTS

Through performance and discussion, this interactive seminar will feature the unique instrumental mastery of:

Eric Rigler (Titanic, Braveheart, Austin Powers) on Uilleann pipes; Scottish small-pipes; the Great Highland Bagpipe; Irish low whistles; and

Steve Forman (Survivor, Dr. Dolittle, Godzilla) on Bodhran; Autumpan; Bougarabou;Djembe; and Djun Djun, plus percussion from Latin America and "found" instruments.

Explore the rich colors and textures available in these extraordinary and unusual instruments. Learn how to incorporate non-traditional sounds into your scores more effectively by understanding the correct ranges, notation, and technique. Helpful handouts provided!
