Featuring a screening of FINDING NEMO

The SCL invites each member and up to three guests to attend an exciting evening on Wednesday, December 17th, 2003, beginning with a full-length screening of FINDING NEMO, a Walt Disney Pictures presentation of a Pixar Animation Studios film.

Following the screening, Composer THOMAS NEWMAN and Music Editor/Soundtrack Producer BILL BERNSTEIN will discuss the music for the film, including a Q&A segment.

Soundtrack CDs will be provided to SCL Members attending this event.

THOMAS NEWMAN has received 5 Oscar nominations for his film work including the two nominations in 1994 for both LITTLE WOMEN and THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, the following year for his score in UNSTRUNG HEROES, soon followed by ROAD TO PERDITION, and finally AMERICAN BEAUTY. He won both the Grammy (Best Soundtrack) and the BAFTA (Anthony Asquith Award for Achievement in Film Music) for his work on that film. Newman's other film scores include the romantic drama MEET JOE BLACK, THE HORSE WHISPERER, UP CLOSE AND PERSONAL, PHENOMENON, AMERICAN BUFFALO, and OSCAR & LUCINDA as well as WHITE OLEANDER and THE SALTON SEA. Newman studied composition and orchestration at USC and completed his academic work at Yale. Broadway's Stephen Sondheim served as his greatest mentor, who was deeply impressed with Newman's originality and championed one of his earliest works, the musical theater piece THREE MEAN FAIRY TALES which received a workshop production courtesy of the Stuart Ostrow Foundation.
