Event: SCL Composer to Composer Seminar with Michel Colombier
Date: June 19, 2003
Time: 7:00 pm

Location: American Film Institute, Mark Goodson Screening Room

Prolific composer Michel Colombier has built a career that defies classification. In addition to scoring more than 100 films (AGAINST ALL ODDS, PURPLE RAIN, WHITE NIGHTS, RUTHLESS PEOPLE, HOW STELLA GOT HER GROOVE BACK, NEW JACK CITY, SWEPT AWAY) he has written numerous ballets, songs, chamber music, symphonic works, four concertos and four "video operas."

A lifelong jazz musician and arranger, Colombier has worked with an extremely diversified array of artists including Madonna, Kronos Quartet, Jaco Pastorius, Prince, Herb Alpert, Supertramp, Petula Clark, Roberta Flack, Barbra Streisand, Johnny Mathis, the Beach Boys, Branford Marsalis, Herbie Hancock, Bill Withers, Joni Mitchell and many more. Colombier's 1968 collaboration with Herb Alpert gave birth to "Wings," a concept album hailed as "the first pop symphony" and "the first rock oratorio."
