Mark Smythe scores "Flying South"

LA-based Kiwi composer Mark Smythe heads to New Zealand early April to record the score for "Flying South" with the Christchurch Symphony Orchestra.

The 23-min Doco/Drama showcases New Zealand's South Island through the eyes of a Kiwi family over three generations. They fly their diminutive piper cub over pristine lakes, soaring mountain peaks, golden beaches and breakneck waterfalls - vistas that give LOTR/Hobbit locations a run for their money, sans orcs.

The film is being produced by Natural History NZ for Christchurch International Airport, who have built a cinema exclusively for "Flying South" screenings.
