Jonathan David Neal

Jonathan David Neal is a composer and orchestrator with 25+ years of experience in composing music for film, TV and record projects. He has recorded with orchestras at Paramount Pictures, Capitol Records, Nashville, Abbey Road and with the Budapest Film Orchestra. He has experience composing for and working with ethnic instruments and musicians in Indonesia, Africa, and Eastern Europe. He has recently composed music for the feature film “Film Maker’s Son” and the documentary, “Patterns of Evidence: The Exodus” which had a theatrical release, as well as other feature films and documentaries in the US and Europe. His music is on TV shows such as Sponge Bob Squarepants, Christmas Child (Lifetime feature), and NFL Films, among others. He currently has a worldwide publishing deal with BMG Rights Management.

Jonathan has held lectures and workshops on music composition, composing for Film & TV and orchestral workshops at Biola University, Belhaven University and Omaha Conservatory of Music. He recently held a workshop on film scoring at University of Aalborg’s Musik Konservatorium, a branch of Denmark’s Royal Academy of Music. His Concerto For Viola and Orchestra was premiered by Orchestra Omaha. Jonathan is an Instructor of Music Composition at Biola University.

He currently sits as an officer of the board of the Society of Composers and Lyricists (SCL) and serves on the Music Rights and Social Media Committees. Jonathan represents the SCL to Music Creators of North America (MCNA), which is an alliance of music creator organizations allied with worldwide music creator organizations to advocate for fair compensation and the preservation of intellectual property rights to the DOJ, the US Copyright Office and the EU. Jonathan is also, the treasurer of MCNA.
