David Raksin thrilled his capacity audience with firsthand accounts of the golden era of film music. With humor and vast insight he shared an overview of his rich musical career, showing many examples from the films he scored.

Raksin began his long and distinguished career in films when he came to Hollywood in 1935 to work with Charlie Chaplin on the score of "Modern Times". He has composed more than 450 film and television scores. His television series include "Medical Center" (1969), the theme from "Breaking Point" (1963), and "Ben Casey" (1961). Theatrical features include "Separate Tables" (1958), "The Redeemer" (1957), "Suddenly" (1954), "The Bad and the Beautiful" (1952), "Carrie" (1952), "Pat and Mike" (1952), "Across the Wide Missouri" (1951), "The Secret Life of Walter Mitty" (1947), "Forever Amber" (1947), "Fallen Angel" (1945), "Laura" (1944), "Tampico" (1944), "Something to Shout About" (1943), and "The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes" (1939). David Raksin was nominated for two Academy awards for his scores to "Forever Amber" and "Separate Tables".
